NBC10 Philadelphia: Local News App Reviews

They released a new version of this app recently and holy crap is it awful. Pages freeze, videos dont play, advertisements eat all the content. With that being said, its fitting a news app about Philadelphia would function much the same way the city does - slogging towards progress and freezing up when it approaches or comes close to success.

Tried to use this app this AM and cannot open. Keeps crashing. Please fix. Still crashing as of 7/7/15. Please fix.

"Updated" version only works in portrait mode, no landscape mode. Updated...really?? Delete!!

Since the update for ios9, not only are there more ads, but the app crashes when news stories are clicked. Also, within stories themselves, hyperlinks to other stories dont work. Theres an entire section at the bottom of this "news" app called "Open House", wasted space on stories about celebrity homes, open houses and real estate. How is this news?

Screen stays in a locked position. I always use my ipad laying on its side. Bring back the functionality you had with the old app. Wont use this app if you dont fix it.

Useless pile of junk. Will not even rotate into landscape mode. Crashes all the time opening articles.

This app was much better before the update. Its not well designed and I find it harder to use versus other news apps.

Hate the new version. It doesnt rotate to landscape so I cant read it when propped on its stand on a table.

This new app is awful! Freezes up and crashes almost every time I try to open it. When it does work, no landscape???!!! So lame...

I gave this app one star but it doesnt deserve it. I liked old app much better. Deleting and going to try other news app...abc, cbs or fox.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Ever since the last update, the app crashes constantly.

I down loaded the app so the pop-up notification would stop popping up every time I opened the NBC10 weather app. Now I can open the weather app w/out this annoying pop-up appearing!

Why does the app want to know my location? Why does the app want access to my contact list (to upload to their severs?) Crashed on first use...no good spyware.

You force me to get the new app and when I download it, it doesnt automatically flip the screen sideways when I turn my iPad. I hate that!!!

This new app is very finicky. Ive got a new iPad, so I know it isnt about the device, but rather the quality of the app. In addition to NBC10 asking to have more personal information about you, the app will only let you comment on stories if you have a Facebook account (their way of forcing you to give them access to more personal info). If you dont have a FB account, they dont want your comments. Its clear that the priorities in the build of this app is to collect user data for marketing. In general, NBC10 got rid of their fully functioning old app for something they were told was new and shiny. Its not.

Frustrating when they upgrade things and it is not as good. It also keeps trying to setup every time I open it. I guess I will change to 3 or 6s app. Less aggravating!!

This "upgrade" they released a couple of months ago is terrible and a huge DOWNGRADE to the previous version! - Consistently displays mandatory ads upon opening it - Inserts full screen ads in the middle of browsing articles - The menu does NOT work! You have to exit, close and re-open just to switch categories - Some articles are unreadable due to poor formatting, where the content is larger than the screen, but you can zoom in/out or scroll.

Wont change orientation, forcing you to watch longway on an iPad. Every video makes you sit through a commercial. Deleted

An iPad app that doesnt work in landscape? Worthless! An iPad app for a local TV station that redirects you to the parent company app? Ridiculous! An iPad app that I deleted? This one!

The update doesnt work. You have to uninstall the app and reinstall it for to work.
